If there is such a thing as being right brained versus left brained, I strive to be ambidextrous. With a degree in mathematics and statistical analysis and a career designing computer software that balances the checkbooks of Fortune 500 companies, numbers will always hold a fascination for me. But capturing the perfect image with a camera and sharing it with the rest of the world is where my excitement really begins. Everything you see, no matter what it is or where you are, holds some form of wonder or beauty, some story, if you stop and look at it the right way. That’s the perspective I try to share. Whether it is lying in wet sand on the beach with waves crashing towards me or feigning illiteracy when it comes to “Danger – No One Past This Point” signs, I am in constant search of the perspective that unleashes the wonder of a moment. It doesn’t matter when or where that opportunity presents itself. My truck should have a “Caution – Stops For Perfect Photo Ops” bumper sticker right next to the “Addicted to Tori Amos” decal. My camera goes where I go – to be able to capture and share the masterpiece of a golden sunset or perfect geometric symmetry of a massive tower of scaffolding is worth having the additional appendage.
I am forever thankful that my wife Dianne, sons Jeremy and Justin, and daughter Emily understand my fervor and have grown accustomed to every trip or occasion being regularly interrupted as I dash into a cornfield or temporarily disappear during a family get together. Hopefully it makes the summer vacation photo albums a little more memorable.
I’ve tried to share some of my favorite photographs via this website. I wish I could change the site as often as my preferences change, as there are hundreds of others that all hold some special meaning to me depending on my mood. I hope you enjoy them also, and if you find one you particularly like, please purchase a print. Or just mail me or leave me a message letting me know what you think – my mission is not so much to sell prints, but rather to share some of the images and hopefully awaken in you the same desire as I have to take an extra second to really consider those things you see around you every day.
